Wales Wheelchair Basketball Squads Selected for Home Nations Cup
Basketball Wales and Disability Sport Wales are delighted to congratulate all the players selected to represent Wales at the inaugural British Wheelchair Basketball Home Nations Cup this weekend.
Taking place in Nottingham on 8–9 August 2026, the new competition will see England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales compete across three courts and three categories: U14, U18 and Senior.
Each nation will earn points based on its performances across the three categories. These points will be combined to determine the first-ever Home Nations Cup champions.
Alongside the overall Home Nations Cup title, the Senior competition will determine the Celtic Cup champions, with the trophy awarded to the highest-placed Celtic nation.
Selection to represent Wales is a fantastic achievement and reflects the commitment, hard work and performances of every player. Basketball Wales and Disability Sport Wales would also like to recognise the families, coaches, clubs, volunteers and support staff who have helped the players reach this level.
Marc Longhurst, Co-Chair of the Welsh Wheelchair Basketball Strategic Steering Group, said:
“A huge congratulations to all the players selected to represent Cymru with pride at this weekend’s Home Nations Cup in Nottingham. Representing your country in international sport is a fantastic honour and a significant personal achievement. It is an experience that all the players and coaches will remember and cherish.
“Following the success of our senior Wales teams at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where both teams recorded historic first victories in the competition, wheelchair basketball in Wales is continuing to grow. This weekend’s competition provides another opportunity for Wales to flourish on the court and build on that success.”
