Wales Combine Showcase Camp 2026

The Wales Combine Showcase Camp, held on 2 and 3 January at the Sport Wales National Centre, was a fantastic way to start the year for the Welsh basketball community. Over the two days, more than 130 players took part in a high-energy camp that brought together athletes, parents, coaches, and staff from across the UK. 

From the start of day one, the camp delivered a true showcase environment. Players rotated through a packed schedule that included physical testing, U.S. style practice sessions, media activity and live evaluation. The structure allowed every participant the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities while also experiencing the standards and expectations of a high-performance basketball setting. 

The showcase games created a competitive atmosphere, giving players the opportunity to perform in realistic game environments. With parents and supporters watching from the stands, the games provided valuable exposure and allowed players to put their development into action. These games provided players with the chance to apply what they had learned in real game situations, under pressure and in front of experienced coaches. 

Throughout the showcase games, the Combine coaches were actively taking detailed scouting notes, evaluating players. This ensured players were not only competing but also being carefully observed in a professional environment. The notes gathered were used to provide feedback to players, helping them recognise their strengths and identify areas for continued development beyond the camp. 

Day two built on the strong foundations of day one. Players took part in advanced basketball testing, further U.S. practice sessions and continued media activity. Alongside the on-court action, workshops added significant value to the overall experience. Parents were able to attend and listen in, gaining insight into leadership, scholarships, recruiting pathways and U.S. basketball culture. At the same time, Welsh coaches participated in a dedicated coaching workshop, supporting their own development and strengthening coaching practice across Wales. 

A closing ceremony took place ahead of the final showcase games, during which players who stood out across the camp or achieved top scores in testing were recognised by the Combine coaches for their performances and achievements. The camp concluded with the final showcase games, followed by a group photo marking the end of the camp.
