The Basketball Wales Volunteer Awards are back for 2021.
Last year we successfully launched the Basketball Wales Volunteer Awards, celebrating the amazing work that volunteers do across Wales to enable everyone to play and enjoy basketball.
In March 2020 things changed. All basketball activities stopped due to the rise of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Wales, across the UK and the world. We have not been able to get involved with basketball in the ways in which we normally would and the past 15 months has been challenging for us all in many different ways.
The 2021 Awards
This year’s awards are different. We want to recognise the people that have kept the basketball fire burning and have inspired, motivated, kept in touch, been a friend, been supportive or just kept talking about basketball during this time.
In terms of playing basketball we have been restricted in what we can do. However there has still been a lot of basketball activity going on, just different ways. So to recognise the work that volunteers have done over the past year, we want you to nominate those that have gone over and above to keep basketball at the forefront.
It’s not just about basketball
Do you know volunteers in your club that have gone out of their way to engage with club members, keep them motivated, kept in touch to be sure that people are safe and well?
What about the family members who help you practice in the back garden?
We also want to hear about how the Welsh basketball community has been engaging with their local community. Tell us about someone in your club that has been a local hero during the lockdown.
Does someone in your club work for the NHS or is a key worker and deserves recognition for the work they have done during the pandemic.
How to nominate
Please nominate by completing the form, telling us why you think the person you are nominating deserves to recognised in this year’s Basketball Wales Volunteer Awards.
The closing date for nominations is Wednesday 30 June at 5.00pm.
We would like to thank DYNAMIK for sponsoring this year’s awards and for their continued support.
