This is an important age group for the Wales national team programme. This is the year that the players experience a tough European tournament, competing in the FIBA European Championships Division C.
Steven Lindsey – U16 girls
I’m Steven Lindsey; I am the Head Coach of the Wales U16 Girls National Basketball Team. I am honoured to be able to coach the Wales U16s Girl National team for a 2nd year.
Our goals will stay the same to develop players individual skills, play a style that compliments the players and be competitive. It is our hope to get players invited to GB camps, last season we had 3 players invited, we hope to continue this trend.
This season is a big year for me I am going in to my 10th year coaching basketball, 5 of those years I have dedicated to the Nottingham Wildcats Basketball Junior Program getting to finals and winning the National Cup.
This is also my second year of being involved in the Women’s Basketball Program at the University of Nottingham, last year we got to the final of the BUCS Trophy but unfortunately was never able to compete in the final due to Covid-19.
I would class myself as a players first style of coach, acting as a stepping stone to help those individuals achieve their goals/aspirations and reach heights they didn’t think possible.
