The Maesteg Miners Set to Host Their First Official Tournament on 14th December

The Maesteg Miners, a new basketball club established in September this year, is gearing up for its first official tournament on Saturday, 14th December. Since its inception, the club has seen remarkable progress, with sessions commencing in late September. This exciting development follows the appointment of Sam Gilbert as Basketball Wales’ Participation and Inclusion Officer.
The club has over 20 enthusiastic participants and is ready to take to the court at Maesteg Sports Centre for their first-ever friendly tournament. They will compete against the Pontypridd Panthers, Tonyrefail Tigers, and potentially Merthyr in what promises to be an exciting showcase of grassroots basketball.
The club, catering to U12s, has witnessed consistent growth week after week, highlighting the community’s appetite for basketball in Maesteg. This rapid development underscores the club’s potential to become a hub for future regional basketball sessions and teams.
