Playing basketball outside with your friends is fun and enjoyable. There are hundreds of outdoor courts across Wales, many are in great locations but some are looking sad and unloved!
Providing safe outdoor basketball courts has the capacity to have a real positive impact on local communities across Wales. These outdoor courts give more people access to basketball, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to play, improving their physical and mental health, and well-being.
Basketball Wales, in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University 3rd year Sport Management students Harry Sutherland, Becca Dowty, Will Fisher and Connor Biggs, are compiling information on outdoor courts across Wales and we need your help!
“This is a fantastic starting point to find out the current state of outside courts in Wales, and to start looking at ways to work with local communities to improve them. Our long term aim is to be able to help all communities access to playing basketball outside in a safe and fun environment. I would like to thank the students from Cardiff Metropolitan University for all their help and enthusiasm for this project.”
Gavin Williams — CEO, Basketball Wales
This information will be collated and used to complete a report for Basketball Wales about the availability and standard of outdoor courts across the country. No personal information will be included in the report.
Please remember to follow the current Wales coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions. Why not go to your local court as part of your daily exercise, you can go with your family or you can go with one person from another household. Stay safe and stay local while carrying out the survey.
If you want to provide details of more than one court, please submit separate forms
Thank you for all you help. We hope to be able to report back on this project by the end of April 2021.
