New lead for the U13 regional programme
Basketball Wales has appointed former national team head coach Kojo Hazel to lead an expanded U13 regional programme.
A former Wales and Great Britain junior international, Kojo has extensive experience coaching both boys and girls for club and country.
He is currently a director and head coach at Tribal Basketball as well as a teacher of PE, IT and E-sports.
On his appointment, Kojo said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge of this new role and giving every young player, irrespective of their background, the chance to embark on their basketball journey.
“Through the new programme, I aim to create many opportunities for young talent across Wales, ensuring that the flame of basketball burns bright in every corner.”
The intention is to establish a network of U13 hubs across the country over time.

He will have the support of Performance Director Phil Gordos, Head of Boys Basketball Andy Leftley, Head of Girls Basketball Sarah Wagstaff and the rest of the newly-established Performance Panel.
