Wales U15 Secure Hard Fought Victory Over Alytus in Defensive Battle
Wales U15 produced a determined and disciplined performance to claim a 48–35 victory over Alytus, in a game defined by defensive intensity and rebounding dominance.
From the opening tip, both sides found scoring difficult, with strong defensive pressure limiting clean looks. Wales, however, showed greater control across the contest, particularly on the boards, finishing with an outstanding 63 rebounds compared to Alytus’ 61. This physical presence proved crucial in maintaining momentum and generating second-chance opportunities.
Wales created early separation with a strong run, eventually building a game-high 28-point lead. Their ability to capitalise on turnovers was key, converting defensive pressure into 26 points, while also adding 17 fast break points through effective transition play.
Captain Izzy Irvine led from the front with an all-round performance, recording 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
