Jr. NBA 2026 | North Conference Tips Off in Bangor

The Jr. NBA programme continues to inspire and develop young players across Wales, providing schools with a platform to engage with basketball in a fun, competitive, and inclusive environment.

As part of the 2026 programme, the North Conference tipped off on Monday, 16 March at Bangor University, bringing together emerging talent from across the region.

A total of 14 teams took part, split across two pools. Across the day, schools proudly represented their assigned NBA franchises, with strong displays of teamwork, effort, and developing game understanding evident throughout.

Results & Qualifiers

In Pool 1, Ysgol Bryn Refail 1 (Charlotte Hornets) delivered a standout performance, finishing top of the group with a perfect 6–0 record. Their consistency on both ends of the court saw them control games throughout the day.

Ysgol Gyfun Gymunedol Penweddig (Atlanta Hawks) secured second place with a 4–2 record, narrowly edging out Ysgol Bryn Refail 2 (Utah Jazz) in a closely contested race for qualification. The group’s competitiveness was reflected throughout the standings, with several teams recording multiple wins.

In Pool 2, Ysgol Penglais (Toronto Raptors) topped the standings with an unbeaten 6–0 record, demonstrating strong all-around performances across their fixtures. Close behind, Ysgol Glan yr Môr (Memphis Grizzlies) finished second with a 5–1 record, also showing consistency throughout the day.

The following teams have qualified for the Finals, taking place on 9 June in Aberystwyth:

  • Penweddig (Atlanta Hawks)
  • Penglais (Toronto Raptors)
  • Glan yr Môr (Memphis Grizzlies)
