Coaching Pathway
We offer a comprehensive pathway for coaches, including:
- Entry-Level Courses: Gain the skills and knowledge to kickstart your coaching career.
- Teacher Training Course: Aimed at upskilling Primary and Secondary School teachers across Wales
- Advanced Qualifications: Progress to coaching at the highest levels of the game.
Requirements for Coaches in Wales
To coach in Wales, all coaches must have:
- Basketball Wales Membership,
- A valid DBS Certificate,
- A current Safeguarding Qualification.

Coaching for Teachers
Basketball Wales offers bespoke teacher CPD courses for both primary and secondary school teachers
Activators Coaching Course
An introductory-level qualification designed to empower participants with the skills, drills and basic technical knowledge to deliver recreational basketball.
Level 1 Coaching Course
This course has been developed to provide learners with the confidence to deliver safe, fun and inclusive basketball sessions under the supervision of an independent coach.
Level 2 Coaching Course
This is the standard level of coaching qualification for all club coaches at local level. The award gives a general overview of all aspects of basketball, and a basic introduction to sports coaching.
