Flint, North Wales – The court was buzzing and the energy was electric this past Saturday as Basketball Wales brought its 3×3 Summer Tour to Flint, marking a high-energy celebration of basketball, community, and sport for all ages and abilities.

Held on the newly refurbished outdoor courts opposite the Jade Jones Pavilion, the event marked the first official use of the revamped facility—and it didn’t disappoint. Dozens of teams from across the region competed in a day of fast-paced, high-intensity 3×3 games, while spectators, families, and local supporters filled the area to cheer them on.

The event featured competitions across a range of age groups, including Under 12s, Under 14s, Under 16s, and Senior categories, with players showing off their skills, teamwork, and passion for the game in the exciting half-court 3×3 format—now an official Olympic and Commenwealth discipline.

Gavin Williams, Chief Operating Officer of Basketball Wales, said:

The tour stop also celebrated the official opening of the new court, which has been completely refurbished with support from Sport Wales and the Welsh Government. Upgrades include a new tarmac surface, FIBA regulation line markings, and four Megaslam basketball hoops, providing Flint with a high-quality facility for both casual play and formal competition. Basketball Wales would like to extend our thanks to Carolyn Thomas MS, for officially opening the new courts and for presenting medals to the winning teams.

🏆 Tournament Highlights – Flint 3×3 Finals

The Flint stop of the Basketball Wales 3×3 Summer Tour brought top-tier competition across all age groups, with finals that showcased skill, teamwork, and serious hustle.

U12 Final

🏀 Boston Bethel (GBR) – 6
🏀 Salop Slam (GBR) – 2

A low scoring game dominated by great defense, Boston Bethal edging out the win to claim the U12 title

U14 Final

🏀 Central Boyz (GBR) – 20
🏀 Santa Susanna Crew (GBR) – 9

A dominant outing from Central Boyz, who controlled the pace and rhythm from the outset to claim the U14 title.

U16 Final

🏀 Nightrydas (GBR) – 15
🏀 Storm Superior (GBR) – 6

Nightrydas turned up the intensity, using suffocating defense and sharp shooting to take home the U16 crown.

Senior Final

🏀 From the Side (GBR) – 12
🏀 Llandrindod Lakers (GBR) – 3

In the Senior final, From the Side put on a clinical performance, locking down defensively and finishing strong at the rim to secure the senior division championship in convincing fashion.

The Flint event was just one stop in a nationwide 3×3 Summer Tour organised by Basketball Wales to promote participation, accessibility, and local talent. The tour continues on Saturday 2^nd August at Victoria Park, Swansea and the final event of the summer will be held in Cardiff on Saturday 23^rd August, giving more communities the chance to engage with the sport in a fun, fast, and inclusive environment.
