West Coast Warriors Crowned Champions in Return of Mid and West Wales League
The final round of the newly re-established Mid and West Wales League took place last week, marking the successful conclusion of the league’s first full season since 2019. The season culminated in a strong showing from all six participating clubs, with West Coast Warriors emerging as champions.
As league winners, West Coast Warriors will go on to represent the region at this weekend’s Terry Price Cup Finals, a significant opportunity to showcase the talent and progress being made across Mid and West Wales.
The Mid and West Wales League was relaunched in November 2024 through the collaboration of six clubs: Llanelli Steelers, Builth Bulls, Pembrokeshire Tritons, Carmarthen Kings, Llandrindod Lakers, and West Coast Warriors. Matches were held monthly at a central venue—Aberystwyth University—and the league provided a valuable platform for both established players and emerging talent.
Reflecting on the season, Basketball Wales COO commented:

It’s been great to see a core of players competing in their matches each month, but also some younger players stepping in and stepping up. Congratulations to West Coast Warriors for winning the league—they now go on to represent the region at this weekend’s Terry Price Cup Finals. I’m really excited to see what format this league will take next season. We have six great clubs who are ambitious to help grow the sport of basketball in Mid and West Wales.”
After being dormant since 2019, the return of the league has been welcomed across the community. With strong club engagement and increased participation, this season has laid the groundwork for future growth—and the league is already looking ahead to building on its success in 2025/26.
