Wales Masters (+40) Teams Selected for British Masters Basketball Tournament in Cardiff
Basketball Wales is delighted to announce the Wales Masters Men’s and Women’s teams selected to compete at the 2026 British Masters Basketball Tournament, taking place in Cardiff on 13–14 June.
The annual tournament brings together some of the best Masters basketball players from across Great Britain and provides an opportunity for athletes aged 40 and over to continue competing at a high level while proudly representing their country.
This year’s event is particularly special as Wales hosts the competition in Cardiff, providing both squads with the opportunity to compete in front of home support and showcase the continued growth of Masters basketball across Wales.
Selection to represent Wales is a testament to the commitment, passion and dedication shown by players both on and off the court. The Masters programme continues to play an important role within the Welsh basketball community, demonstrating that competitive basketball can be enjoyed throughout life while providing meaningful opportunities to continue representing Wales on the national stage.

The British Masters Tournament provides a fantastic opportunity for players to continue competing at a high level while proudly representing their country. We are delighted to have both Men’s and Women’s teams competing this weekend, particularly with the event taking place here in Cardiff.
As part of the Basketball Wales strategy, we are committed to creating opportunities for people to remain involved in basketball throughout their lives. The continued development of Masters basketball is an important part of that vision, ensuring players from all corners of Wales can continue to enjoy competitive basketball, stay connected to the sport and represent their country for many years.
While this weekend’s tournament is an important milestone, our longer-term ambition is to establish a sustainable Masters pathway that enables Wales teams to compete regularly at major European and World Masters events. We want Welsh players to have opportunities not only to represent their country domestically, but also to compete on the international stage against the very best Masters players from across Europe and beyond.
The growth we have seen within the Masters programme in recent years is extremely encouraging and reflects the strength of the basketball community across Wales. We look forward to continuing that journey and creating even more opportunities for players to remain involved in the game for longer.
