Support Our Junior National Teams: U14, U15 and U17 Boys & Girls
Basketball Wales has launched a new fundraising campaign to support our U14, U15 and U17 Boys and Girls National Teams, helping ensure young athletes can continue to access vital international fixtures.
Each year, players are selected to represent Wales at competitions across the Home Nations and Europe. These experiences are an essential part of their development, providing exposure to higher levels of competition, supporting long-term player pathways, and helping young athletes grow both on and off the court. However, international competition entails significant travel, accommodation, and participation costs.
Why we are fundraising
This campaign has been launched to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent eligible players from representing Wales. All funds raised will go directly to supporting our junior national teams and help cover the costs of international fixtures.
Basketball Wales is committed to transparency. 100% of the funds raised through this campaign will be used solely for the purpose stated and will not be diverted to other areas of work.
Who does the fundraising supports
The campaign supports:
- U14 Boys and Girls National Teams
- U15 Boys and Girls National Teams
- U17 Boys and Girls National Teams
Funds raised will help ensure that selected players can take part in international opportunities central to their development and progression in the sport.
How to support a player
Supporters, family members, and the wider basketball community are invited to contribute to the campaign. As there is no dedicated field for a player’s name on the fundraising platform, supporters are kindly asked to enter the player’s full name in the “name” field when donating, and to use their own email address for contact details.
How the donations are allocated
To ensure both individual and collective support, donations are allocated using a 70/30 model:
- 70% of each donation is allocated to the player named by the supporter, helping to support their individual costs associated with international competition.
- 30% is placed into a collective team fund to cover shared costs across the squad and help ensure all players are supported fairly.
Supporters who wish to contribute to the squad as a whole can do so by entering “Team donation” when donating. In these cases, 100% of the donation will be allocated to the collective team fund, supporting all players across the group.
This approach allows supporters to choose how their contribution is used, while ensuring both individual players and the wider team benefit
