BUCS Home Nations Men’s Basketball Tournament Returns to Cardiff This May
The BUCS Home Nations Men’s Basketball Tournament will return this spring, with Cardiff Metropolitan University hosting the event at the Archers Arena on 9–10 May 2026.
Bringing together leading university talent from across the UK, the tournament will feature national university teams from England, Scotland and Wales, as well as a Wales U23 national side. The competition provides a strong platform for emerging players to compete in a high-performance environment while representing their nations.
Across the weekend, six fixtures will take place, offering a full schedule of competitive basketball.

- 11:45 – 13:45 | England vs Wales U23
- 14:00 – 16:00 | Scotland vs England
- 16:15 – 18:15 | Wales vs Wales U23
Sunday
- 09:30 – 11:30 | Scotland vs Wales U23
- 11:45 – 13:45 | England vs Wales
- 14:00 – 14:30 | Presentations
Fans can expect a weekend of competitive fixtures, with national pride on the line and an opportunity to see some of the UK’s top university players in action.
The tournament is delivered with the support of Basketball Wales and Cardiff Metropolitan University, continuing a strong partnership in hosting high-level events at the Archers Arena.
Speaking ahead of the event, Basketball Wales COO Gavin Williams said:
“It’s great that we have been able to get this event back on the BUCS calendar. It’s been a long while since all three countries have played in this tournament. We hope that this event will now be the catalyst to ensure this becomes an annual competition, and we want next year’s event to include a women’s competition and look to reach out to Irish universities.”
Cardiff Met also expressed their support for hosting the event. Sarah Wagstaff said:
“It’s fantastic to be hosting this BUCS tournament at our university. Alongside Basketball Wales, we have hosted a number of big events, and we are proud to add this one to the list.
We’re looking forward to welcoming top university talent to the Archers Arena and, hopefully, seeing a number of Archers representing. Make sure you secure your ticket.”
