In one of the weekend’s headline games, USA Select edged out Wales Senior Men with a final score of 89-85. The game featured multiple lead changes and tie scores, with both teams displaying impressive shooting. Wales Senior Men connected on ten three-pointers, while USA Select made eight.
Dominic Thomas led USA Select with 21 points, while Wales’ Tomide Akinsiku delivered a notable double-double, contributing 21 points and ten rebounds. Despite a strong push from Wales, including an 8-0 run in the second half, USA Select regained control in the final minutes and held on for the win.
Team Red Wins Basketball Wales all-star game! Competitive Mixed Match
Another closely-fought contest saw Team Red secure an 80-75 victory over Team Black in a mixed basketball match. The game was evenly matched throughout, with 11 tied scores and nine lead changes. O Williams of Team Black recorded 17 points and 12 rebounds, while J Dawe of Team Red contributed 18 points. Team Red’s composure in the final moments allowed them to maintain their lead and clinch the victory.
Women’s Showcase: Cardiff Met Archers Begin Preparations
The Big Basketball Weekend concluded with a women’s showcase match, where Team White narrowly defeated Team Maroon 69-67. Featuring new student players, this game served as crucial preparation for Cardiff Met Archers as they gear up for the upcoming Super League Basketball season.
