Position: Head of Performance and Coaching Pathways
Salary: £40k Per Annum
Location: Wales – (Remote/Hybrid Working. Hot desk locations at Sport Wales National Centre, Cardiff and other locations across Wales)
Reports to: Chief Operations Officer & Board of Basketball Wales
Job Type: Full-Time Position 37.5 Hours per Week. Flexibly allocated as necessary to meet the operational requirements of the role, including evening and weekends as required.
Annual Leave – 20 days (Plus Bank Holidays)

Basketball Wales is the national governing body (NGB) of basketball in Wales. Overview
Basketball Wales is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and resilient leader to take on the role of Head of Performance & Coaching Pathways. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the effective development and implementation of Basketball Wales’ Performance Strategy, across 5×5 and 3×3 formats.
This role is central to enhancing the national team player pathway from U13 boys and girls through to senior men’s and women’s programmes, ensuring sustained success at major international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building a sustainable talent pipeline and leading the performance team to meet strategic objectives. The post holder will develop our coaching pathway to support the growth of aspiring national team programme coaches in Wales and ensure our most talented players can reach their full potential.
The post holder will work with the Performance Programme Manager to ensure alignment with the British Basketball Federation performance pathway as well as effective collaboration with Basketball England and Basketball Scotland. The work will require regular weekend and out-of-hours commitments, including team trips across the UK, Ireland, and Europe.
