Basketball Wales Rolls Out Safeguarding Banners to Clubs Across the Country
Basketball Wales is proud to announce the launch of new safeguarding roller banners, which have been distributed to clubs and venues across the country. These banners serve as a visible reminder of our collective responsibility to provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone involved in basketball.
This initiative forms part of our ongoing commitment to raise awareness of safeguarding children and adults at risk, and to ensure that basketball remains a place where all individuals can enjoy and thrive – whether as a player, coach, volunteer, official, or supporter.

Promoting Safe Spaces in Welsh Basketball
The safeguarding banners will be displayed at club venues and Basketball Wales events, helping to ensure all members of our community are aware of:
- Our safeguarding policies
- How to report concerns
- The shared responsibility we all hold to protect one another
Basketball Wales continues to work closely with Chwaraeon Cymru and the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit to review and enhance our safeguarding policies and procedures regularly.
We are also committed to supporting our network of clubs, members, and volunteers by:
- Offering enhanced DBS checks for coaches and volunteers at discounted rates, in partnership with the Welsh Sports Association and Vibrant Nation.
- Providing safeguarding inductions and CPD opportunities for all Basketball Wales Board members.
- Ensuring coaching staff, officials, and volunteers working with children or adults at risk have the necessary qualifications, first aid training, and safeguarding certification.
