The much-anticipated Finals Day at Bangor University delivered four exciting basketball games, showcasing exceptional skill, passion, and sportsmanship. Fans were treated to high-stakes action, with each game offering its own unique narrative.

The Shield game saw Caerphilly Cobras face Kenfig Cougars in a battle for bragging rights. Both teams had split their season series, making this clash even more intense. After a slow start, Kenfig Cougars mounted a remarkable comeback to secure a thrilling victory, demonstrating a great deal of resilience and grit that left their fans feeling inspired.

The Plate Final followed, with the RCT Gladiators taking on Mold Magic in an unpredictable game. The atmosphere was electric, and standout performances from players like Owen Williams helped the Gladiators break down Mold Magic’s defence. The sharp shooting of the RCT Gladiators proved decisive, and they emerged with the win after a tense battle, much to the delight of their supporters.

In addition, the Finals Day also featured a Women’s Showcase Game between Cardiff Met Archers and Cheshire Roar. Both sides showed off their amazing skills and teamwork. Despite a strong challenge from the Roar, the experienced lineup of the Archers managed to triumph. This game highlighted the growing need for a Women’s Basketball Wales National League and confirmed that the future of women’s basketball in the UK is taking an upwards trajectory.

The main event was the game that everyone had been waiting to see, as Cardiff Met Archers defended their title against Swansea Storm. However, the Archers held onto a healthy lead to retain their championship in impressive fashion. Dan Flaherty, possibly playing his last game for the team, earned MVP honours for the second consecutive year, following an outstanding performance.
