Basketball Wales Launches Youth Panel to Strengthen Young Voices in the Game
Basketball Wales has launched a new Youth Panel, a key initiative aimed at ensuring young people play an active role in shaping the future of basketball across Wales.
The panel brings together a group of engaged and passionate young players from across the country, creating a platform for them to share their views, experiences, and ideas. It is designed to ensure that young people’s perspectives are considered in the development of the sport at all levels.
The inaugural Youth Panel includes:
- Brandan Hutchison – Port Talbot Spartans
- Ethan Benningwood – Cardiff Met Archers
- Isabelle Gwynne – Swansea Storm
- Luca Basini-James – CAVC Academy & Cardiff Met Archers NBL Division 2
- Marvi Mian – Newport Basketball Club
- Gareth Ellis – Wrexham Warriors
The initiative reflects Basketball Wales’ ongoing commitment to building a more inclusive and player-centred game. By involving young people directly in conversations and decision-making, the organisation aims to better understand the needs of its community and continue to strengthen the experience for players across the pathway.
Members of the Youth Panel will have the opportunity to:
- Contribute ideas to support the growth of basketball in Wales
- Provide feedback on competitions, programmes, and initiatives
- Develop leadership and communication skills
- Represent the voice of young players within the national governing body
Gavin Williams, Chief Operating Officer at Basketball Wales, said:
