New South Wales Masters League launches for 2026/27 season
Basketball Wales is pleased to announce the launch of a new over 40’s South Wales Masters League for the 2026–27 season.
The new competition will provide a structured and enjoyable playing opportunity for Masters basketball teams, bringing players together through a series of one-day festival events between October 2026 and March 2027.
Six teams are set to take part in the inaugural season:
- Aberystwyth Basketball
- Barry Huskies
- Cardiff City
- Kenfig Cougars
- Swansea Storm
- Cardiff Tribal Hunters
One-day festival format
Each event will bring all six teams together on one Sunday, with three teams competing during the morning session and three during the afternoon.
Games will be played in one-hour slots, with the morning session running from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and the afternoon session taking place from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The competition has been designed as a double round robin, giving every team 10 league games across the season. Each team will also play two exhibition games, providing further opportunities to compete and enjoy Masters basketball.
A total of 36 games will be played across the six regular-season festival days.
