This year’s theme highlights the importance of taking positive steps, big or small, to support our own mental health and the wellbeing of those around us. From checking in with a teammate to creating inclusive environments where people feel safe, heard and supported, basketball can play a powerful role in strengthening connection, confidence and wellbeing.

Basketball Wales remains committed to promoting positive mental health across the sport and encouraging open conversations that help break down stigma.

Through its partnership with Guardian Ballers and The Genesis Project, Basketball Wales continues to use basketball as a tool to support wellbeing, inclusion and community engagement within under-represented and ethnically diverse communities across Wales.

Impact

Through community sessions, school interventions, leadership development and wellbeing education, The Genesis Project has already engaged hundreds of young people and continues to create meaningful impact both on and off the court.

Basketball Wales is also encouraging members of the basketball community to access the support and resources available through the Mental Health Foundation, including practical advice, information, and ways to get involved during Mental Health Awareness Week.
