Cardiff and Vale College Announced as Headline Sponsor for Basketball Wales Awards Evening

Basketball Wales is thrilled to announce Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) as the headline sponsor for our upcoming National Teams Awards evening. This prestigious event, taking place on Friday, 6th September, at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, will celebrate another successful season of Welsh basketball and honour the outstanding achievements of our national teams.

In a major highlight of the evening, we are proud to welcome Andreas Kapoulas, Head Coach of the Bristol Flyers and a distinguished figure in British basketball, as our guest of honour. 

With over 19 years of experience leading the Flyers from the lower tiers of the National Leagues to the elite heights of the BBL and SLB and guiding them to their first European campaign, Andreas brings unparalleled expertise. His significant role within the GB coaching setup, working with youth and senior men’s teams, makes his presence at our awards evening a remarkable opportunity for everyone involved.

This Awards evening is a prelude to our Big Basketball Weekend, providing a dedicated moment to honour our national teams before the weekend’s excitement begins. Andreas Kapoulas will present our players with their international caps. He will also share insights into professional basketball in the UK and the skills young players need to pursue sports careers.

Following the Awards evening, the Big Basketball Weekend will kick off on Saturday and continue through Sunday, featuring a variety of activities. Highlights include Wales Senior Men vs. USA Select, a Kids Camp, the BWNL All-Star Game, and a Cardiff Met Archers WBBL Women’s Showcase game.
