Basketball Wales (BW) proudly revealed its dynamic new logo today, marking a bold step forward in the organisation’s continued evolution.

Created by talented Welsh graphic designer Isabel Bates, the emblem captures the energy, movement, and spirit of modern basketball in Wales.

“Designing the new logo was a chance to modernise the identity while staying true to its roots,” said Isabel, who is building an impressive portfolio across sport and culture.

“I wanted to capture the passion and energy of the sport through the motion of the dragon, a powerful Welsh symbol, combined with the form of a basketball. It was important to me that the design felt bold, dynamic and distinctly Welsh.

“Alongside the logo, I created a full set of brand guidelines to help shape a consistent and confident visual language for the future. It has been a real privilege to contribute to the next chapter of Basketball Wales.”

The unveiling comes at a time of growing momentum for basketball across Wales, reflecting a fresh era of ambition, inclusivity, and national pride.

“The new logo is eye-catching and powerful, embodying the positivity and fresh thinking that’s driving Welsh basketball forward,” said BW vice-chair Anne-Marie Koukorava.

“We’ve made a series of exciting announcements in recent months – and this is another milestone. It’s a fantastic design and I want to thank Isabel for her incredible creativity.”

BW signalled the dawn of a new era by signing a six-year contract with KitKing earlier this year to kit out performance staff, referees and table officials with Nike teamwear.

The governing body has also appointed Dr Ryan Chambers as its first-ever full-time Head of Performance and Coaching Pathways, reaffirming its commitment to talent development.

BW is also planning to expand its workforce by appointing a Schools and Competitions Officer, and a Participation and Inclusion Officer for North and Mid Wales.

“This is an exciting time for Welsh basketball,” said BW Chief Operating Officer Gavin Williams.

“Interest in the sport, especially among young people, is increasing rapidly, and we’re determined to build on this momentum.
