BASKETBALL WALES SEEKS TWO NEW ELECTED BOARD DIRECTORS
Basketball Wales is inviting applications for two Elected Board Director positions, offering a fantastic opportunity for passionate members of our basketball community to help shape the future of the sport across Wales.
As an Elected Director, you’ll play an important role in guiding the strategic direction of Basketball Wales, helping to grow and strengthen the game from grassroots participation through to the performance pathway. We are particularly keen to increase representation from our member clubs, ensuring the voices and experiences of the basketball community are reflected in the decisions we make.
Who can apply?
These positions are open to members of Basketball Wales-affiliated clubs who are passionate about developing basketball in Wales.
We’re looking for people with knowledge or experience of the sport in any capacity, whether that’s through:
- Playing
- Coaching
- Officiating
- Club management
- Volunteering
- Supporting basketball within your local community
Previous board experience is not required. We’re interested in people who understand the opportunities and challenges facing basketball in Wales and who want to make a positive difference.
Experience of governance is beneficial but doesn’t have to come from serving on a board. It could include involvement with a PTA, community organisation, grassroots sports club, charity, or other voluntary groups where you’ve helped support decision-making and good governance.
We encourage applications from underrepresented groups, particularly women, people with disabilities, and people from ethnically diverse communities. We want our board to reflect the diverse community we serve.

What happens next?
Applications close on 24th July 2026.
Following the closing date, all applications will be reviewed and shortlisted candidates will be presented to Basketball Wales member clubs for election.
Successful candidates will be appointed to the Board for a term of up to four years, providing an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the future of basketball across Wales.
