What is available to support basketball players in Wales?

Basketball Wales wants to make the game as inclusive as possible and truly ensure basketball is open to all. We appreciate that in order to participate in the sport, there is a financial implication. Basketball Wales has received funding via Sport Wales and the National Lottery to support basketball players and their families who may find the cost prohibitive to participation. This funding is available for basketball players who may be at a disadvantage relative to their peers. The funding is also available to
players forming part of the National Team. Funding is available to those experiencing financial hardship who, without access to the funding, would not be able to participate in the sport at a community and national level.

Criteria:

To be eligible, the basketball player must fit one of these criteria and be able to provide evidence you are in receipt of:

Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income Support
Housing Benefit
Universal Credit
Child Tax Credits
Working Tax Credits
Pension Savings Credit (PCSC)
Individual or family financial hardship – household receiving less than the minimum income standard (2023) of £50,000 per couple or £29,500 per single-parent family
Living in care
In receipt of EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) or Financial
Contingency Fund (FCF)
In receipt of carers allowance
Individuals on JSA/Pension or any other benefits are also able to apply if they meet the minimum income standards
